Interview With Rei Kawakubo.

Updated: Apr 20, 2022

Its imposable to describe the excitement and anarchy I felt when first visiting Dover Street Market in about 2005. We marched in and tried on things and felt no shame about the 1900 pound price tags pulling things on in the dressing rooms. And the staff were hospitable and unconcerned (staff other places tended to take a more hostile approach to fashion students trying expensive clothes)

I feel most inspired by Rei Kawakubo than almost any other designer working today. Its hard to explain why, its to do with the way she approaches everything. She would take the most mundane thing, a cup; for example and turn it upside down , patch up the opening and make a new one on the bottum and just demonstrates how institutionalized we all are by life in general .
